OpenBh 5.5.1 is based on the OE-Alliance 5.5.1 core.


So what is different in OpenBh 5.5.1 then?


The main change from version 5.4.1 to version 5.5.1 has been changes to oe-alliance-core branch 5.5.1. The OE (Open Embedded) core on which the image is built has undergone major changes, updates and fixes. Version 5.5.1 uses Python version 3.12.8.

Whats New:

  • OE-A 5.5.1​
  • Python 3.12.8​
  • Gstreamer updated to version 1.24.10​
  • Switch to udev (userspace /dev).
  • If your favourite plugins no longer work, you will need to contact the plugin authors to ask them to update their plugins for Python3.12.8​




*** You can not online update from 5.4.1 to 5.5.1, you must reflash (you can do this using image and backup manager and then restore your settings backup) ***


Apart from the above you should not notice many differences between previous OpenBh 5.4.1 and OpenBh 5.5.1 images.


*** NOTE ***

If you use CrossEPG, then you will need to delete the crossepg folder in /media/usb or /media/hdd before you can use it in OpenBh 5.4 onwards, this is due to changes made, to keep it compatible with Python 3.12.x

Vu+ Multiboot wouldn't have been possible without the hundreds of hours that dpeddi has spent over several years (yes it's been an on going project for him in his spare time for many years) to bring this real multiboot option for all Vu+ 4K boxes.

It is something we requested from Vu+ around 2015 and they told us it was not possible to add it, well finally we can prove them wrong.

I have observed this.
Channel switching slower.
Black box between channels - longer time.
Had to initialize SSD again.
Got message that SSD was full.
Can't find the menu where I set time before - after selection recording.
Record settings only shows path on SSD.

Maybe I signed the wrong title when I have Vu+ duo 4K SE
 
VU+duo 4K SE
Today there was a menu for setting "Record settings".
Strange.
HDMCEC did not work today.
After restarting it worked again.
Also strange.
The same thing happened for v5.4
Am I the only one who has noticed that changing channels takes longer.
In v5.4, without delay.

Not noticed any difference in channel change speeds and no reason there would be any difference in speed either.

I have now tested again with v5.4 and it is as you say.
No noticeable difference.
I don't know where I got it from.
 
Now back to 5.5.1
When updating, the directory /media/hdd/movie/ is missing.
When that channel does not exist, Record Settings is not displayed.
If I create the directory and then restart, the "Record Settings" menu is there.
When installing v5.4, the directory is there.
 
On 5.5.1 (in flash) Openmultiboot cant unpack images, even openbh.
On 5.4.1 (in flash) Images in Openmultiboot telnet and ssh not work
On 5.3 (in flash) all work ok.
Any suggestions ?
 
Thank you so much for the new release 5.5.1. Everything seems work fine, but I can't find the "enigma2-plugin-extensions-kodi" among the plugin/extensions to download and install!
Isn't Kodi available for the new OBH 5.5.1?
 
Should plugins still be seen with latest 5.4.1 or are those now jus for the latest 5.5.1 . Because if i go to install plugins it is empty screen.

We haven't removed any plugins from 5.4.1, so they should still be visible.
 
if i go green --> yellow --> addons and feeds manager --> openbh feeds --> install plugins . Nothing but the black screen ,only text install plugins
same if i go menu --> plugins --> green button --> install plugins nothing also there. i can see skins from another directory. But nothing from plugins. Those has been working i have installed cccam from plugins. is something wrong or has plugins changed place?

OpenMultiboot will more than likely require an update as images now use udev instead of mdev.

However I don't think OpenMultiboot is maintained anymore (I will need to check with other image teams).
