Problems with DNS OBH 5.1

With each restart E2 or reboot, both primary and secondary DNS change... for example:

Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Reboot or restart E2:

Primary DNS: 192.168.178.1 (Assumes Gatway)
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 (does not assume any value)

Tested on: Duo 4K, Uno 4k SE, Octagon SF8008 and Zero.

Because the box doesn't want Google to know all your private businesses and it's protecting you from them ;)

I have the same issue on Vu+ Ultimo 4K ... hopefully a fix will appear soon if possible?? :unsure:

Download from BH server

OpenBH 5.1 PULSe 4K Mini the listener cannot connect to the add-ons server Internet connection correct, I added additional DNS 8.8.8.8 and still does not connect It also doesn't update opkg via telnet

However, this update does not seem to be working yet.
(My test)
So for now it needs to be done manually.

Yes, when I realized yesterday I couldn't connect to the feeds, the problem was this DNS situation. But just configure DNS manually and do not make restart or reboot for the values to stay there.

If you haven't arrived the correction for this box yet, it's waiting for it to arrive.

Yes, it works now.
After the update image you can enter the DNS manually
however, don't forget especially if you use both adapters
to turn off DHCP
DHCP NO
because if DHCP is in use it can overwrite your manually entered DNS

dopo avere letto la tua risposta mi sono preso la briga di verificare anche il vecchio duo con la OBH4.23 ed ho potuto constatare che anche li lo tesso problema ,il DNS non era quello da me impostato
Da qualche tempo ,causa un videocitofono della BTicino avevo messo l'intera mia rete domestica con il DHCP ) ma non avevo mai verificato prima del post di @zebril la corrispondensza tra il DNS impostato in fase di set e quello in essere
Ero straconvinto il DNS dei decoder fosse quello di OPEN DNS ed invece vi era quello di defoult corrispondente all'indirizzo del mio gateway
Dopo il tuo post ho tolto il DHCP ai decoder e l'ho impostato manualmente ,ora tutto è tornato normale.

Sono anni che dico che non ha senso lasciare il DHCP abilitato: con quello che facciamo con i nostri box via telnet/ftp, è assurdo che il router sia libero di cambiargli indirizzo!
Chi poi ha più di un box, diventerebbe matto esponenzialmente.

è pur vero che il modem router che ho io, esattamente il Fritz box 7430 di Eolo, ha la possibilità di mantenere lo stesso indirizzo ,quello assegnato la prima volta, ad una "periferica" ,per cui anche nella impostazione col DHCP attivo non mi cambiava mai indirizzo ai box.
Quando ad esempio avevo per il modello VuDuo 2 schede madri (avevo un box acquistato nuovo da me nel 2009 ed un box acquistato di accosione aper 50 eurini )una ,la prima,aveva problemi nella gestione della rete e l'altra aveva una saldatura fredda sul condensatore C87(se ben ricordo) il router riconosceva la scheda madre e col DHCP attivo dava indirizzo .104 oppure .127 a secondo di quella montata.

Perché ho sempre avuto DHCP, e questo non è mai successo. Ma se non avere o meno DHCP non dovrebbe nemmeno essere importante se nel router abbiamo un IP definito all'apparecchiatura...

Da ieri stavo cercando di aggiornare Octagon e non potevo... Ho deciso di accendere il WiFi, spegnere Lan... WiFi ha un altro IP esterno, ha aggiornato presto!

Guarda ,e mi ripeto,il problema lo ho notato anche sul duo con img obh4.4.23...
dopo avere tolto il DHCP ho fatto più riavvii sia sui solo4k con img 5.1.002 che sl duo con img obh4.4.23 senza alcun problema...e allora???

In OBH 5.1.002 è stato corretto... domani, se ho "appetito", vado alla spalla e arrivo in 4.4 e controllo com'era.
