Question regarding 4K image quality - HD

I have questions about image quality.
I have a 4K television (not a super expensive one, more of a budget mini LED).
My VU+ duo 4k SE box is set to 2160p resolution and multi (auto) refresh.
When I watch football in HD (Sky Sport Bundesliga), I feel that the picture quality is worse than when I set it to 1080p and 50Hz.
I feel that when set to 1080p (I am only talking about VU+ here), the image is crisper. Is this just autosuggestion or is it actually true that a lower resolution on VU+ will give a better image on a 4K TV?
When I switch on 4K channels on VU+ (there are literally only a few available...), the picture quality at 1080p seems to be worse than at 2160p.
Does this apply to the specific Open BlackHole image, or will it be the same on others such as OpenATV, ViX, etc.?

Oh! And a quick second question.
When I use AutoBouquetMaker, it changes the names of specific channels in other bouquets to N/A (they lose their names), even though I tell ABM not to make any changes to other bouquets.
Why is this happening, and how can I prevent it?

Thank you for your reply and any suggestions regarding possible image settings.
