Solo2: Install Kodi on internal HDD

Hi everyone. I have the VU+ Solo2 with 512 GB internal HDD. I installed the new OpenBH 5.4.1 image. The Solo2 has 256 MB in the flash memory. After the clean installation of the OBH image remains about 55 Mb in the free space. I tried to activate the Kodi plugin but the installation fails because there is no enough space in the flash memory. How can I install Kodi in the internal HDD? Thanks for any suggestion.

Most Kodi files are stored on the hard drive.
Your VU+ Solo 2 has only 256 MB, of space, even my VU+ Duo 2 has 1024, and uses nearly 50%, with OpenBh 5.3, with the Kodi plugin. I was forced to return to OpenBh 5.3, after trying OpenBh 5.4, as my favourite Kodi addon wouldn't work with the latest Kodi version, in OpenBh 5.4.
Have you tried using an earlier version, of OpenBh, like 5.0, or even 4.4?
I tend to use Kodi, quite a lot, the download option, and store all downloads, on my hard drive.

Thanks so much for your reply, Mick12334.
I still haven't try an early version of OBH. Maybe this is the right solution. As alternative solution what do you think about creating a multiboot on USB pendrive where to install OBH and Kodi?

I'm not sure it will work, on an older VU+ receiver, but worth a try.
Have you tried a Flash extension, using a USB stick, I remember it used to be possible, with Black Hole.?

No, I never tried. Until some day ago I used Black Hole 3.1 on my Solo2. But Kodi didn't work. So I decided to try OpenBh just to have Kodi.

use openmultiboot and install OpenBH in USB/hdd
Thanks so much for the reply, Vant.
This is what I tried but with no success! To install multiopenboot on OpenBh 5.4.1 I followed the guide from this post of the forum: https://board.openbh.net/threads/how-to-use-open-multiboot-on-open-black-hole.1008/.
After creating two partitions on the USB stick and formatting them, I start the procedure to install openmultiboot, but the wizard don't ask me where to install it: if in one of the USB partitions or in HDD. So it install openmultiboot on the HDD. After rebooting, Solo2 remains blocked and no image is loaded. What is the problem? Can I use openmultiboot on Solo2?
Thanks for amy suggestion.

Sorry, the link in the previous message land on a wrong page! It’s no possible to edit and correct the post. Here the correct url of the guide for openMultiboot:

first you should instal latest openbh image to flash. After this plug usb (or hdd) to box and create partition and format them to ext4 filesystem (i use 6gb for usb and 240gb for hdd - i use hdd drive). Then mount this partitionton (using device manager) to /usb and to /hdd, reboot box and check if the partitions have been mounted correctly in telnet you can wsrite df -h . Finally you can download openmultiboot from plugins extension.

Thank you so much for the detailed description, Vant. I will try the procedure again following your steps and let you know.

I successfully installed OpenBh 4.5.1 in OpenMultiboot on USB 8 GB following your steps, Vant. I started from OpenBh 4.5.1 on the flash of Solo2 and then install a new image OBH 4.5.1 on USB with OMB; the install procedure gone fine and at the end of installation the flash memory in use on the image of OMB were only 7%, so I installed Kodi 21.0 plugin with no problems!
As Mick12334 said, Kodi created its folder .kodi on internal HDD where install all its add-ons.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions, friends!
