consideration of a vuplus fan

What a pity that you have no plans to adapt your images to gigablue products
I am a lover of the vuplus brand and your image
I would have liked to have had an important alternative to the vuplus brand and I had identified this alternative in Gigablue
All the other brands such as octagon, edision, zgemma etc. seem to me instead of two or three steps lower
I am wrong?

We cannot adapt images without samples and support.
We cannot make tests and solve issues.
We know that there are teams that compile images without any test and fix but this is not serious.

I had read the discussion of the link that you pointed out to me only that I have a hard head and it seemed right to give you my impressions as well.
Not to repeat myself but one thing is to talk about the Vuplus, Dreambox and Gigablue brands and another thing to talk about all the other minor brands who I, rightly or wrongly, will never buy

I am testing the octagon SF8008 in these days and i can tell that is very good box.
It has integrated wifi and combo sat and dvbt.
obh runs very well, the box is very responsive and has nothing to envy to Vu in terms of speed and operation. Plus it's cheap too.
The only thing missing is the CI slot.
Also have a look at the Pulse 4k which is a good box and will be supported soon.

Problem is only one: as Logan said, if they don't provide developers with their products, how is possible to test an operative system? Only on a theoretical basis is not possible: developers can't buy every products in the world in order to test them. And tests never end... So, if Gigablue does not want to cooperate, there's not much to do, I fear.

Very true, I remember how slow and unstable was my old Vu+ Solo 4K when running HbbTV. There was also the risk of freezing when a channel on a weak transponder started to stutter and wasn't changed quickly, not to mention the inability of doing a blind scan or those problematic setting restores that 'almost always' lost or "grayed out" some channel groups of my 21 sats system.
They're all gone thanks to hi-silicon chipset, and to think that I had paid for it 5 times of Octagon price when it first came out on the market in 2016, no offence anyone but I don't think I'd ever touch a Vu+ again when there are such better and cheaper alternatives.

The Solo4K was completely new, it was the first 4K E2 stb, the first with the ARM chipset and the first with fbc tuners.

There was always going to be some issue's as there always is with new technology, it takes time to mature.

I've been using a Solo4K since 2016 and, if it was still commercialised, I'll buy it immediately, again. What you mention is merely a SW issue and HbbTV is surely not the main scope one buys a receiver ;)
And its FBC tuners makes it still really modern and useful: imagine what I can do with two SCR/Unicable LNBs and the double tuner. And it's also a combo: so other two DVB-T2 tuners in one slot only.
And a very comfortable caddy to insert without even screws, a 2,5" HDD/SSD.
Not to mention 2 C.I. slots and 2 smartcards slot, that's exactly what I'm looking for in other boxes. Only Ultimo4K was able to overtake Solo4K.
So, under those regards, not even Duo4K is as more complete as they are. :)

I know you love your Solo4K, that was why I wrote "no offence anyone" :)
Of course, needs and expectations vary, and so do thoughts and preferences.
It's great to hear that it covers all your demands and you're still happy with it.
Btw, congrats on your moderator status - I'm sure you'll manage it with great care and success. ;)

Yes, I'm a VU+ lover but I'm also open to other boxes, provided they have a good reputation. :)
That's why I myself asked if Gigablue would have support, just because I'm looking to an alternative: as I wrote, a combo receiver with 2 C.I. slots, 2 smartcards slots (and no need, so, of USB external devices).

I also have solo4k since November 2016 and I am extremely satisfied with this decoder
never a hardware problem
never a software problem
And the passage from Black Hole to Open Black Hole, a passage that took place thanks to alexwilmac, made me appreciate it even more
