SanDisk Ultra microSDXC Class 10 UHS-I U1 A1 400GB

Hi

I am trying to get this SD-card working as HDD.
It should work on the SF8008 v2. As Octagon is officially selling the SF8008 with "SAN DISK" 200GB and 400GB Cards as an alternative to Extern HDD with Power Supply.
..
Somehow i cannot get it to stay mounted on OpenBH. (p.t 5.1)

I mount it as "media/hdd". Ok.
And "prepare" the "storage" and formatting it Ok. (Movie folder is created ok etc. etc.)
( FYI: I have also a usb 32gb mounted as "media/usb". )

I can ftp to the "media/hdd". All seems ok.
..
But as soon as I start a recording, the SD-card is no longer recognised.
and the recording gives a write-error. Disk is full. (Longest recording was 27 sec.)
The SD-card disappears from the device list and the only way to get it recognised again, is to do a hard-shutdown on the rear on/off.

Do i need to do some special to get this mounting stabilized ?

Best regards

I don't have any cards that big, so can not test myself.

But does it mount and stay mounted correctly in any image ?

Hi Ev0

Thanks for your rapid responding.

I dont know for sure.
But are your smaller sd-cards working as expected on OpenBH 5.1 ?

If the imagebackup in OpenBH 5.1 is restoring ok now. ( I could not get restoring working in OpenBH 5.0.013 )
Then i could try to find other images and test the SD-Card there.
( is there any particular (reference) images i should try ? )

Thx
Best regards

The biggest I have is 128GB and that mounts and holds it's mount just fine.

Mounted as /media/hdd and I can record to it without any issues.

I also have a 16GB usb stick mounted as /media/usb

Hi

FYI: I have the dual DVB-S/DVB-T/C version.

I found out that the sd-card mount disappears when i change channel from DVB-S to DVB-T
Recording on a DVB-S and zapping to a DVB-T the issue appears.

FYI:
If i zapp to other DBS-S channels only, then all is ok and recording and mounting is stable.
FYI:
Somehow the HDD size is known despite that the HDD is nolonger mounted.

Best regards.

I tested this way.
You can probably change the mount point later
with Device Manager.
But formatting and mount I did this way first.

Thanks for replying.
Changing mount from media/hdd to media/mmc do not help.
Same same.
The mounting disappears when doing recording while zapping.

How you made the format and mount.
Maybe it has some effect.
Looks like you did it with Mount manager and I didn't.
Of course there may be another reason unknown to me.

How did you mount your SD-card ?
I did <blue><blue> "Device Manager"
How did you format your SD-card ? and what "cluster size" did you use ?
..
Is timeshift working when you use FAT32 ?
( when using exfat the timeshift is giving error about it should be ext2,ext3 or ext4. )

Best regards

But I don't use FAT32.
SD-card,
Formatting and mounting can be done in this way.

Can you enable debug logs and post the debug and any crashlog you get, when this happens so we can try and see what is really going on.

Menu - Setup - System - Logs - Settings - Enable debug logs -> Yes

Super Thx
I will "enable debug logs" and post logfiles.

FYI:
The only way i can mount the sd-card is via the "Device Manager".

FYI:
I also get "Tuner error" message every time i zap from DVB-T to DVB-S .. blank screen for 1 sec. then it comes.
Logfiles:
What i did ...
i zapped from DVB-S to DVB-T to DVB-S to get the "Tuner error"
i zapped from DVB-S to DVB-T to DVB-S to get the "Tuner error"
i zapped from DVB-S to DVB-T to DVB-S to get the "Tuner error"
I started a 1 minute recording on DVB-S (And then did nothing but wait)
Got the "Disk full" error.
Opened the "Device Manager" to check that the sd-card was recognized . (No longer present in the device list)
Then i put the box in standby.
...

Then the same again with debug+ setting. (Last logfile)

Best regards

A couple of questions,
1. whats in Menu/Information/Devices
2. what is the SSD format? - you may have said but cannot see it
If you have formatted the device - how

So crash log is timeshare not liking the disk - hence Q2
last log shows the recording start, but then the recording routine filling all its buffers, and a write error - disk full
hotplug then detaches the device - which is why its no longer present.

Thanks for looking in to this.
The SD-card is mounted as "media/hdd". Ok.
Formatting is done via OpenBH Menu "Storage" format and it is Ok (EXT4). (Movie folder is created ok etc. etc.)
( FYI: I have also a usb-stick 32gb mounted as "media/usb". )

I will answer about Menu/Information/Devices later ( I am not home now )
Best regards

translate
Try to remove the usb stick and restart all the decoder, then put the sd, make it initialize from the decoder and mount it as hdd, restart all the decoder and put the usb stick back. Maybe the decoder uses the usb stick as hdd and creates problems for the sd

Hi s8un3no
Thx for the advice.
And you are right, some mishmash is going on between devices.

I did what you suggested. ( Still not working. )
And the symptoms is now slightly differently.

I started a 2 minute recording on DVB-S.
And then zapped between DVB-S and DVB-T.
(after a short while i got the "corner Gear-wheel") (i did not get the "write-error" disk full)
Opened the Menu/Information/Devices to check that the sd-card was not recognized . (No longer present in the device list)
FYI:
The "Playlist" button is now showing the media/usb folder despite the recording setting is still media/hdd. (MishMash)

Thx
Best regards

Before doing all this test theorizing a software issue, you should be sure it's not a HW failure, due to the card you are trying to use. Only using a new card you can be sure or trying to use this card elsewhere.
