Vu+ Duo4K Lite Specs

The pre-production sample I have is kernel 4.1.20 but I have no idea if the production models are using the same kernel.
I understand there will be hardware differences between the pre-production and production models, but I do not know what the exact differences are or if that will mean the kernel will change (I would guess it's unlikely though).

The Duo4K Lite is not really part of the Duo4K family. It has more relation to the Uno4K series than the Duo4K series. The name Duo4K Lite was probably chosen to allow the sense of purchasing a Duo4k type receiver.
Consider OE-A machine--->SoC--->Kernel--->CPU class
Uno 4K--->BCM7252S--->3.14.28--->2 × 1.7 GHz
Uno 4K SE--->BCM7252S--->4.1.20--->2 × 1.7 GHz
Duo 4K Lite--->BCM7252S--->4.1.20--->2 × 1.7 GHz
Duo 4K--->different/high-end platform--->4.1.45--->4 × 2.1 GHz
The Duo 4K Lite and Uno 4K SE share both the BCM7252S platform and exactly the same Linux 4.1.20 kernel generation. Vu+'s own current pages list both the Uno 4K SE and Duo 4K Lite as 1.7 GHz dual-core machines. There are even similarities in the OE-A feature definitions.
The Uno 4K SE has things such as:

So architecturally, the family resemblance is far stronger between the 2026 Duo 4K Lite and the old Uno 4K SE than between the Lite and the original Duo 4K.

The Duo Lite's two tuner slots and two CI slots are real improvements over the Uno 4K SE, and Vu+ advertises exactly those capabilities. But the engine underneath is essentially Uno 4K SE territory. That's very different from what the name initially implies. We have: Duo 4K → Duo 4K SE → Duo 4K Lite, which sounds like three versions of one evolving Duo platform. Technically it looks much more like the Uno 4K SE platform that was put into a larger/newer chassis with a second tuner slot and CI.
For me, The Duo4K Lite is an Uno 4K SE with two tuner slots and a 2026 price tag. The €400-ish premium pricing becomes difficult for me to reconcile with the hardware. You're paying premium money primarily for the FBC/tuner/CI/chassis arrangement, not for a premium 2026 computing platform. The Duo 4K Lite kernel is over a decade in age. When was the last time a "New" Vu+ Premium enigma2 receiver was released with such?
The original 2018 Duo 4K series remains the genuinely higher-end processing platform of the two. If they want this much for the Duo4K Lite, I can only image the price tag of a "New" Duo4K.
One bright spot is at least there is a receiver to buy, even if it is made in China and not Korea. Someone needing a FBC type receiver at least has something to purchase!
